Review (from Sitting Ovation): A swirling, swelling intro and a beautiful synth line start this brand new EP from Dj AXS. Hailing from France, his excellent blend of dub-techno and minimal beats sit perfectly together on this 6-track effort from ZeECc records [ECc002]. Notion Of Space had me hooked from the outset, although my only issue was that aside from all the swelling, ebbing and flowing - the track felt like it could have broken out in to some insane stormer of a track at any moment, but never quite reached that breaking point. Undead Line take s asimilar approach with swelling sounds, this time on a more electronic/tech tip and slightly more ambient. The addition of a sub in this one gives it the edge, and the whole thing reminds me of Quantec, which is my books is always good. Rechorder [Arome] is the thrid ambient outing, and this EP is reminding me more and more of the much loved “Special Love” album put out by Kaito as a beatless supplement to the Special Life album. Section takes on a more sinister approach with the Basic Channel strain of dub-techno vibes throughout and some top-end percussion to keep you moving. The title track Moment to Dub is another beautful swirling track, and the final track; a remix of Rechorder is equally welcome here. I’d actually go out of my way to reccomend this to anyone feeling the dub-techno vibes these days. This one is well worth a peek, and I’d hope that nobody was disappointed.
