Upwellings is a project started in early 2008, with the idea to create minimal techno influenced by dub and productions from Germany: Basic Channel, and also from other labels: as M-nus, Minibar, Perlon, Scape, Cadenza etc ...
The goal was to minimize production tools, with just an analog synthesizer, a vocoder and a drum machine. Edited and mixed with ProTools, sound of Upwellings can be characterized by a certain sobriety of textures. Very focused on rhythmic aspect and dub productions, Upwellings cultivates a deep techno approach, using low deep bass, echoes roots, harmonic and ethereal textures.
It is therefore an invitation to travel proposed by Upwellings, a journey into the dark and unknown depths of the cold currents of ocean floor (the upwellings), where is good to be lost to better emerge and to glimpse the light. A while blue music coming from ambient to techno, to some more electro things, jazzy or agitated (dancefloor oriented), according to the weather, currents and explored areas...
Quickly spotted by netlabels (via myspace), in 2008, Upwellings produces "No End" on "Perfect Lifeform" compilation for Deepindub. Will follow a series of EPs on Schall-netlabel, Klique and Zeecc.
Upwellings is a project that is also dedicated to live performances and which can find its place in different settings, from the small bar rather with club atmosphere, to larger scenes (concert halls, festivals...) for while rising sets... keep head above water?!?!!...
